If you’ve ever wanted to scream (or cry) after grading a stack of your students’ constructed response writings…you are not alone! So many of us are struggling with how to help our students say something meaningful about what they’ve read. We’ve tried all the acronyms and anchor charts, but something still seems to be missing. Student responses are surface level, weak, and choppy. If you’re feeling discouraged–there is some good news: 1. You are not alone and 2. There is hope! Join Carrie Rosebrock, author, district alignment coach, and former middle school English teacher, as she models tangible reading and writing strategies that help our students read critically so that they can transfer their thoughts into writing. Teachers will gain tangible mini-lessons, as well as model examples, that they can use the next day with their students.
