SEA 217 requires that every school district in Indiana have at least one Reading Specialist trained in one of the IDOE approved Dyslexia Programs. WVEC will host the Orton Gillingham Reading Specialist training at WVEC July 29-August 2. Participants will be trained in the Orton Gillingham approach. Individuals who participate in this five day training will meet the IDOE/SEA217 requirements for training.
GOALS FOR THE DAY include:
Understand more about Dyslexia and how this impacts literacy learning
Be trained in the Orton Gillingham model to fulfill SEA217 and the IDOE requirement that all districts have a person trained as a Reading Specialist by July 2019
Network and develop a support system for Reading Specialists
