We have had some great learning opportunities this Fall at Wabash Valley Education Center. Many educators enjoyed a week with Debbie Diller as they learned strategies for setting up their classrooms, workstations, and instructional small and large group instruction. Two lucky schools, Van Rensselaer Elementary and Tri-County Primary won a half-day visit with Debbie herself! We will welcome Debbie back in December as a follow-up to these sessions. Did you miss the sessions but wished you could have come? We will host Debbie for one more event on December 2nd. At this workshop, Debbie will address strategies for your classroom set up, literacy workstations, and small/large group instruction. While this will not be as detailed as our week-long series, Debbie is known to pack a lot of information into one day and will still make it a day to remember for you!
The Money Bus rolled into town at the end of September. Were you lucky enough to have come? If so, then you now qualify for a Money Bus visit to your school!! With the new emphasis on financial literacy and the state of our current economy, it is the perfect time to incorporate this program into your curriculum. We will work to bring the Money Bus back and will be offering more financial literacy workshops in the future. Keep an eye out for our newsletter and check our website often for all of our workshop offerings.
Recently, WVEC hosted two RTI Focus Meetings. We hope these groups grow and develop as professional learning communities so educators from multiple schools can share resources, strategies, and support one another with RTI implementation and development.
My role at the Center is to help teachers and administrators stay current with professional development trends. As a part of that role, I work with individual schools and districts on their PD plans. I am also going to begin sharing thoughts and ideas regarding “hot topics” in our field today.
